DERPY HOOVES

Alright, so I may be a little slow about this but apparently there is a controversy about Derpy Hooves, our beloved klutzy grey pegasus, being “censored.” While she was “censored” by her voice being changed, the name “Derpy” being taken out of Season 2 Episode 14: “The Last Roundup” and her eyes being fixed, it was for iTunes release ONLY. I have checked The Hub’s (which airs MLP: FiM every Saturday) website and they still have Derpy in her original form. iTunes has every right to censor what they feel is offensive and everyone has a right to their own opinions. That is why this is AMERICA. In Season 2 Episode 18: “A Friend In Deed” Derpy is spotted in the snowglobe of Cranky, she is STILL “derpy-eyed.” Yes, it is sad she is going to be censored on iTunes, but this is why YouTube exists.

Now, the reaction a lot of Bronies are giving is a little, out-there, to say the least. There are petitions for Hasbro AND the Hub asking them not to change Derpy when she has not been changed for them. Hasbro has only changed it for iTunes. If you don’t want to see “Derpy” changed, then don’t buy the iTunes versions. Buy the DVDs, or just watch it on the Hub or YouTube. As a fan of the Ponies I myself am disappointed that some people got offended by Derpy. I think she is a great pony that overcomes her “disability” of having a “derpy” eye, or what is really a lazy eye. Every accepts her despite her “disability” which is actually great for the show.

There are many more mentally retarded cartoon characters so I AM a bit confused as to why Derpy is the one getting picked on to be censored. Edd on Ed, Edd, and Eddy was obviously mentally retarded, so is Patrick on Spongebob and he gets picked on by Squidward and it is not offensive. That could be a reason for being upset that is legit. But Derpy is still there and being Pony fans, Bronies, or Pegasisters (as the female fanbase is apparently known as), we need to stick together on this situation but approach it with love and understanding like the Ponies would do in any situation on the “MLP: FiM” show. Yes, we love Derpy, but don’t go overboard, please.

Finally, leave your comments below voicing your take on the situation (any negative comments towards Hasbro, the Hub, or even iTunes (Apple) and the supposed “soccer moms” that supposedly got Derpy censored will be removed.) and I’d like to apologize if I offended anyone by saying what is commonly known as the “r-word” but I did use the proper term for anyone who does have a mental disability. I want everypony (yes, I said everypony in a sentence) to know that I nothing against those with a mental disability as I am friends with many of them.

Thank you for reading,
